I have never been to Egypt, but I have always had the feeling there is something in my way drawing me towards that desert place, where the Sun – that has always attracted me in a special way – is so present. I found the sign for Rue des Pyramides in Paris and I felt like giving this name to the new collection. A collection about breaking pure geometric shapes. Later on, I visited Passage du Caire, a beautiful glass corridor in the middle of Parisian streets. Elder women carrying baguettes, young women wearing turban or little children riding on their mothers’ backs with beautiful fabrics were the main characters I found when crossing that special corridor. Those images are mixed in my mind with Senegalese women, checked and repeated patterns and embroidered crosses. Shortly after I got to know Tarik, a new friend born in Cairo, who has the best business card I have ever seen. When I talk to him I always have the feeling he is giving me precious messages or suggestions. I tell him about my wish to visit those artificial mountains, on a boat or a sun car. In the meanwhile, I remain as a traveller by the river, taking notes and searching for natural pyramids.
